Seven Second Movie Challenge

BFI London Film Festival 2010

We may be Mac devotees here at Movie Talk but we’re very happy to give a plug to Microsoft’s Windows 7 Seven Second Movie competition – a challenge to amateur filmmakers to create their own very short film, inspired by their favourite film or genre.

Director Justin Chadwick, Radio 1 film critic James King and actress Alice Eve are among the judges and the winning entry will be screened at the BFI London Film Festival gala premiere of Chadwick’s new movie, The First Grader, on 26th October.

For details on how to make and submit your mini movie, check out the competition site. You've got until 9th October to enter, so get cracking.

Jason Best

A film critic for over 25 years, Jason admits the job can occasionally be glamorous – sitting on a film festival jury in Portugal; hanging out with Baz Luhrmann at the Chateau Marmont; chatting with Sigourney Weaver about The Archers – but he mostly spends his time in darkened rooms watching films. He’s also written theatre and opera reviews, two guide books on Rome, and competed in a race for Yachting World, whose great wheeze it was to send a seasick film critic to write about his time on the ocean waves. But Jason is happiest on dry land with a classic screwball comedy or Hitchcock thriller.
