Sky Sports pundit Andy Gray has been sacked for unacceptable and offensive behaviour after making sexist comments about referee Sian Massey. At Saturday's match between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Liverpool, Andy and Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys were recorded saying that Sian and other female referees 'didn't understand the offside rule' and 'someone should get down there and explain offside to her'. Although not broadcast, Andy and Richard's conversation was picked up on the microphones they thought were turned off. As a result of the gaffe, Andy and Richard were suspended from Sky's Monday Night Football coverage. But on Tuesday, Sky said it had terminated Gray's contract 'in response to new evidence of unacceptable and offensive behaviour'. Sky's statement continued: "The new evidence, relating to an off-air incident that took place in December, 2010, came to light after Andy Gray had already been subjected to disciplinary action for his comments of 22 January, 2011." Sky Sports managing director Barney Francis said: "Andy Gray's contract has been terminated for unacceptable behaviour. After issuing a warning yesterday, we have no hesitation in taking this action after becoming aware of new information today."
