Soap star picked for Knight Rider spin-off
A US soap actor has been chosen to play the lead role in the remake of the hit 80s show Knight Rider. Justin Bruening, best known in the States for his role as Jamie Martin in the soap All My Children, will be playing Micheal Knight Jr, the son of the original Knight Rider - the role made famous by actor David Hasselhoff. Adding another dash of excitement to the project, Bourne Identity director Doug Liman steps in as executive producer. Knight Rider, about a crusading man and his talking car, became an international hit in the 1980s. Justin will be hoping the series will have the same impact on his career as it did for the Hoff. Like Bruening, Hasselhoff was a soap star - appearing in The Young And The Restless - when he won the role of Michael Knight. Knight Rider is not the first vintage TV show to be resurrected. Former EastEnders actress Michelle Ryan is currently riding high in the starring role of the revamped version of The Bionic Woman.
