Stars arrive for Christmas show
Fans were given a thrill as they waited to see the stars arrive to record Rod Stewart's Christmas Show. American singer Michael Buble kissed fans through a fence as he arrived at Stirling Castle ahead of his performance with Stewart in the ITV programme to be broadcast next month. The veteran singer is recording performances with Michael, Kylie Minogue and Scottish violinist Nicola Benedetti in the great hall of Stirling Castle. He said last week: "Christmas comes early for me this year. I'm really looking forward to singing with Kylie and Michael and performing with Nicola. "The show will be a real seasonal treat." Tickets for the exclusive evening were distributed via an online lottery and the dress code was "dinner jackets, kilts and cocktail dresses". Many who missed out on tickets waited outside the castle entrance to catch a glimpse of the popstars and they were not left disappointed when Michael mingled with fans. The great hall has been closed since Monday to prepare for the show. A Historic Scotland spokeswoman added: "We are delighted that Rod Stewart is hosting his Christmas special at Stirling Castle's great hall. "It will be seen by millions of people across the UK and is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the beauty of this spectacular castle. The rest of the castle will be open for business as usual."
