Strictly Come Dancing 2008 - Week 2
Images from the second week of the sixth series of Strictly Come Dancing as the ladies compete for the first time
Jessie Wallace and Darren Bennett kicked off the second show of Strictly Come Dancing 2008
The pair performed an energetic salsa - but the judges gave them a lukewarm response
The judges showed their appreciation - or lack of - for Jessie with some low scores
Next on to the dancefloor were Christine Bleakley and Matthew Cutler
Lisa Snowdon and Brendan Cole were next
The pair performed a lively salsa - but it wasn't a hit with the panel
Jodie Kidd and Ian Waite - the tallest couple in the series - followed with a foxtrot
While Heather Small and partner Brian Fortuna opted for a salsa
Cosying up to the judges didn't help Small's chances - she still received mixed reviews from them
A nervous Gillian Taylforth followed with a foxtrot - and the judges tried to be kind
However, the competition heated up when Rachel Stevens and Vincent Simone danced a salsa
But it was the final contestant, Cherie Lunghi, who received the night's best response
Arlene Phillips hinted that Lunghi - who performed a foxtrot - was a potential winner
Then it was time for the men to perform a group routine, to Ricky Martin's She Bangs
And once again Austin Healy was a hit with the judges
The contestants will find out on Sunday's show who will be the next celebrity to leave
Sunday's results show featured a special performance from the Sugababes
There was tension in the air as the couples learned whether they had lived to fight another week
In the end, it was Jodie and Gillian who found themselves competing in the dance-off...
...but Gillian Taylforth left after the judges unanimously voted to save Jodie
The actress' early departure means dance partner Anton du Beke misses out on the final yet again
