Strictly Come Dancing: Nicky Byrne sambas off
Nicky Byrne has missed out on a place in the Strictly Come Dancing semi-final after becoming the latest celebrity to be voted off the BBC One show. The Westlife singer lost out after finding himself in the dance off for the third time - this time facing contest favourite Denise Van Outen, who was a surprise addition to the bottom two. And after he had reprised his American Smooth/Samba fusion routine with Karen Hauer, and Denise had reprised her quickstep/jive routine with James Jordan, the judges were unanimous in saving the latter - sending Nicky out of the competition. However he remained upbeat, saying: "It has been just so much fun. It is the biggest and best show in the world. To come out every Saturday night is hard but it's playing a different character, doing a different dance - it's just been amazing." He also paid tribute to his partner Karen Hauer, saying: "Every week, every day, has been incredible. We had a bit of a shaky start in terms of judges and stuff, but we just seemed to improve. "I have to say thank you to the judges - you have been absolutely amazing with all your advice, all the people backstage - even the people that get you your coffee - I am going to miss the whole thing, it's been an amazing experience." Nicky's departure means that Denise, Kimberley Walsh, Louis Smith, Dani Harmer and Lisa Riley will compete in next Saturday's semi-final. Each couple will perform two routines each in a bid to make it to the final on December 22.
