Kellie and Kevin
Showdance: Ding-Dong Daddy of the D-Car Line by Cherry Poppin’ Daddies
TV Times Emma says: This swinging, toe-tapping tune is the most natural choice for showdance music out of the four, and with Kellie riding high from last week, it should stand her in good stead. This series, innovative Kevin Clifton has been responsible for a samba to Will Smith and a Charleston with light sabres and it’s a safe bet he’ll have saved the best till last. Likely to be the most vibrant, exciting showdance of the evening.
Dance: Rumba
Song 1: Songbird by Eva Cassidy
They’ve been in the dance-off twice and a notoriously tricky rumba won’t help matters. It’s a classic, romantic song, but we don’t think it will be enough to make this routine sizzle. Fingers crossed they can pull out all the stops and prove us wrong.
Dance 2: American Smooth
Song: Let’s Face The Music And Dance by Irving Berlin
TV Times Emma says: There may be trouble ahead for these two if they can’t nail their routine to this toe-tapping showtune. It’s almost certain to be the stronger of their two dances and a few wowzer lifts are their best chance of making the final.
Katie and Anton
Show Dance: O Fortuna by Carl Orff
TV Times Emma says: Cheeky Anton – this is a piece of music predominantly associated with The X Factor! Full of drama and clout, it’s an unexpected choice from the King of Ballroom – we were hoping for something a bit more elegant, with that Fred and Ginger flair. Katie promises it’s an ‘epic’ routine that will leave her ‘a broken woman’. Let’s hope they can come up with the goods to make up for a missing Gleb and Anita showdance…
Jay and Aliona
Showdance: Can’t Feel My Face by The Weeknd
TV Times Emma says: Of all the songs in all the world, this is a fairly perplexing choice. Aliona is a great choreographer and will no doubt be planning something spectacular, but the mid tempo music doesn’t seem to lend itself to either a fast and furious showstopper or a beautiful, classic routine. Throw in the fact that they’re not performing their infamous Pulp Fiction jive, and this might spell trouble at the final hurdle for the odds on favourite.
Georgia and Giovanni
Showdance: Fix You by Coldplay
TV Times Emma says: A showdance to a slow song? We’re not sure about this. It’s been done before, very successfully by Flavia Cacace who used Take That’s Rule the World to show off Louis Smith’s gymnastic prowess. It’s a risky strategy though, especially after a slow, stunning Viennese Waltz left them in the bottom two. However we’ve been truly impressed by Giovanni’s choreography this year, hopefully he can bring something magical to the floor.
