Dave Myers has hit back at critics of his Strictly Come Dancing success, saying they can 'stick their heads in a bucket of custard'.
The Hairy Biker prompted viewers to tweet that he should consider hanging up his dancing shoes when the public vote saw him through to another week of the competition, while Abbey Clancy and Rachel Riley were in the dance off, with Rachel exiting the show.
But Dave, who scored just 19 points for his latest routine, told the Daily Mirror: "I'm having a good time and I'm not going to let people spoil that.
"A few people have suggested it on Twitter but my reaction to that is they can stick their head in a bucket of custard."
Dave, 55, is partnered by professional dancer Karen Hauer on the show and has become a viewer favourite despite lagging behind other contestants' dancing skills.
He told Metro: "I never said I was the people's champion, Len Goodman said that. But I'm very flattered, and obviously if it wasn't for the voting public I wouldn't be here now, so I'm incredibly grateful for that."
Admitting his chances of winning Strictly were slim, he said: "I'm a week at a time, me.
"There's so many good dancers and it's quite obvious who the really good dancers are. There's about five or six people who could win it. As for who's eliminated, we all gossip and talk, but we can never work it out, we've got no idea who's going to go."
Dave said that despite criticism he had improved: "When we first started the group dance everyone was so nervous and it seemed so complicated, but now looking back it seems quite simple.
"My fitness levels have improved, my posture has improved. I started with middle aged man's knees and a sore back, but now my knees are better and so's my back, it's done me a lot of good."
