After making her name as the tough-talking Supernanny, Jo Frost is taking her brand of no-nonsense parenting advice around the country in a new Channel 4 series, The Jo Frost Roadshow. The six-part begins on Channel 4 on Tuesday, 8 February, and sees Jo talking to parents about the childcare problems they face, and then conducting experiments with the help of scientists to investigate the issues. We caught up with her to find out more… This is a natural evolution from Supernanny… That dealt with me going into one family, but I knew there were bigger issues out there that parents are talking about. There were things that left me speechless and moved me emotionally… We look at young children obsessed with body image, and the impact computer addiction and violence has on our boys. I don’t wear my Supernanny suit on this one… I was in my jeans and getting my hands dirty and doing something I feel passionate about. A third of parents I spoke to aren’t confident about parenting… They find it difficult to make decisions about what they should and shouldn’t do. I wanted to get answers about things that are important to them. What I do isn’t about pointing the finger… If I see a parent in the street dealing with a difficult situation in a good way I always give them a wink and smile. Being in the British countryside for the Roadshow was beautiful… I’m a city girl, but driving through the countryside listening to classical music was magnificent. Even the smell of cowpats was appealing. Spending so much time in America, I miss London… Every time I come back I feel like I discover something new.
