Tess Daly tipped to replace Christine on One Show
Speculation is mounting in the press that Tess Daly is set to replace Christine Bleakley as presenter of The One Show. According to the Sunday Mirror the Strictly Come Dancing host has had talks with BBC chiefs about joining comedian Jason Manford on the red sofa later this year. "Tess is the one they are after," a BBC source told the paper. "She has the sort of face you’d want to switch on to after a day at work." However it is also thought the 41-year-old may have to share the role with another presenter - possibly the show's roving reporter Angellica Bell - due to her commitments on Strictly, which is due to return later in the year. "There are questions over how she will work around Strictly," the insider added. "One option is for Tess to anchor most of the week with another presenter stepping in for one or two evenings." The news comes just days after it was revealed that Christine - who quit the BBC last month - will not be returning to the show. She will join ITV in the autumn where she will co-host ITV's new breakfast show Daybreak with her former One Show colleague Adrian Chiles.
