In The Bold and the Beautiful spoilers for the week of July 8, Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) wonder whether Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) is being honest with himself. He seems to be all-in with his engagement to Paris (Diamond White), but he appears to still be drawn to Hope (Annika Noelle). We have to wonder, what does Thomas really want?

Hope has been left wondering if Thomas is marrying Paris because he truly loves her, madly and deeply, or if he’s doing it to keep Hope out of his life. Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) seems to be rooting for the latter, while Ridge is perplexed at his son’s surprise engagement. Ridge is trying to remain supportive, but he knows his son’s history and knows how strong Thomas’ connection to Hope was.

Thomas himself seems to be torn. He’s a man who is driven by passion and for a very long time he had one singular passion: Hope.

After spending some time in France, Thomas decided that “moving on” meant dating, courting and quickly proposing to Paris despite a very short amount of time since he left LA — and Hope — behind. Now that he’s back in LA, it seems like Thomas’ resolve is slipping and he’s still in love with Hope. The only thing holding him back is that Hope is still struggling with the idea of marrying him, or anyone, for that matter.

What’s more is that Paris seems to know how tenuous her relationship with Thomas really is. It’s sad because she truly loves him, but upon returning to Los Angeles she can see that the connection between Hope and Thomas is still there. They share a son, after all, so it’s not like she can issue an ultimatum to keep them apart. Hope will always be in their lives if they marry.

Thomas really needs to take some time for himself to sort out his complicated problems. He’s jumped from a proposal and engagement with Hope to an engagement with Paris in a very short period of time. Not only does he need to think about himself, but he has Douglas (Henry Samiri) to think about. Thomas needs to be sure about the person he’s going to marry, and right now nothing seems certain at all.
