Is ITV bringing back The Durrells? Show bosses CONFIRM there’s more to come…
We may not have seen the last of The Durrells!
For four years ITV aired The Durrells on Sunday evenings, delighting with tales of love, family and animals in 1930s Corfu.
But sadly last month, the fictional version of this real family waved goodbye to Greece with the show coming to an end after four series.
But fans may have reason to rejoice after The Durrells executive producer confirmed that talks are underway to bring the show back, with the show's writer Simon Nye taking the helm once again to adapt more books in Gerald Durrell's series.
"There are other books," Sally Woodward Gentle told Deadline. "We've been down to Bournemouth to meet [Gerald Durrell’s] granddaughter.
"We've got a strong idea of what we're going to do and Simon's starting to work on it."
The show’s star Keeley Hawes previously spoke of her hopes for a spin-off, telling TV Times: “The whole period of time filming this show has been like being in a little glowy bubble.

“I have clear memories of arriving in Corfu. It’s been a privilege watching the cast grow up. I couldn’t love them more.
“Is it the end? Well, it’s not like the Durrells [in real life] left Corfu and were really boring; they all went on to have interesting lives. I know we’d all be up for a spin-off…”
Callum Woodhouse, who played Leslie Durrell, recently admitted he would love to return to his role in the form of a Christmas special or a movie.
“We'd love a Christmas special or an Easter special," Callum said. "Downton Abbey's got the movie coming out, why can't we?"
Callum recently told us that his next job will be hard to top The Durrells, he said: “It’s exciting to think about what comes next, and to start auditioning again, but it’s going to take a lot to beat this. It almost feels like I’ve peaked with my first job! It’s been incredible and I got the part straight out of drama school, so it was perfect timing.”
