The Voice UK enjoyed a major boost in its viewing figures as the series final was screened on Saturday night.
According to overnight figures an average audience of 7.2m tuned in to see Andrea Begley crowned surprise winner ahead of odds-on favourite Leah McFall.
The audience - which peaked at just over 8m - was the show's highest since the May 5 edition - and added on almost one and a half million viewers from the previous week.
As with the 2012 series The Voice 2013 had suffered mixed fortunes in the ratings.
The opening edition in late March picked up just over 6m viewers - but viewing figures rose to the eight million mark once the show moved to a later timeslot to avoid a schedule clash with Britain's Got Talent.
However viewing figures dropped once the series moved past the blind auditions stage and into the battle rounds and knockout stages.
The quarter-final two weeks ago saw the audience drop to below 4m viewers for the first time this series.
Saturday's final left both coaches and audience shocked as visually impaired Andrea was crowned champion ahead of Leah, who had been widely expected to win.
The 27-year-old impressed the judges with a trio of performances which included a powerful rendition of Sarah McLachlan's Angel.
But while her coach Danny O'Donoghue was left celebrating, Leah's coach will.i.am was less happy - reportedly storming off stage as the result was announced.
He later took to Twitter to announce he was 'so sad' at the result, showing his support for Leah by adding: "Andrea is amazing....but we know who has the incredible #voice".
