The Voice reject Bob Blakeley has a second chance at fame after songwriter Mike Batt offered to help him get a record deal live on TV.
The 56-year-old warehouseman from Stockport impressed the audience when he sang Cry Me A River on the BBC show last weekend, but none of the panel volunteered to mentor him.
He was left in tears after Mike, probably best known for putting together The Wombles group, told BBC Breakfast he wanted to help.
Mike, who also wrote Bright Eyes for Art Garfunkel and launched the career of Katie Melua, said he was surprised none of the show's mentors - Kylie Minogue, Sir Tom Jones, will.i.am and Ricky Wilson - backed the singer.
Speaking to him on a live video link to the Salford studio, Mike said: "Nobody turned and I just felt such a sense of injustice that I thought I ought to do something, so I'd like to offer my services as a mentor."
He told the tearful singer: "I would love to mentor you and, if you like, manage you for six months or so until you get a deal with a good company, or with my own company... You must not let this chance go by."
