The Voice: Ricky and Tom's Battle Rounds
After seeing Rita and Will’s knockout rounds, in which they whittled down their teams from eight to three acts, it was the turn of Ricky and Tom to do the same. Messrs Wilson and Jones had to watch all the acts in their teams perform and then each choose three performers to go through to the live quarter-finals next week.
First up, it was the turn of Ricky to see his eight acts perform. The first performance of the night was from 24-year-old Christina Matovu from London who chose to sing It’s Gotta Be You by Des’ree. She was followed by one of the youngest members of Team Ricky, 17-year-old Olivia Lawson, from Sunderland, who sang Chris Isaak’s Wicked Game. Then it was the turn of Hannah Symons, 26, from Bath, who sang Beyonce’s Drunk In Love.
Scotsman Stevie McCrorie has been a stand-out singer ever since he turned up at the Blind Auditions and the 29-year-old fireman version of U2’s Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For didn’t disappoint. We couldn't find a video of his performance but here's a sample of his other work..!

When Letitia George sang in the Battles with Vikesh, she drowned him out with her powerhouse voice. Although Ricky decided to save her, Vikesh remained in the competition when Will stole him for his team. And now he’s going through to the live shows! Would Coventry’s 24-year-old Letitia be as lucky with her version of Twist And Shout by The Beatles?
Like Stevie, Emmanuel Nwamadi got Rita going with his sexy voice in the Blind Auditions and the Battle Rounds. Would the 23-year-old Londoner’s version of I’ve Been Loving You Too Long by Otis Reading get him to the live quarter-finals?
The last Team Ricky acts to perform were 19-year-old Autumn Sharif, from London, with her version of Human Nature by Michael Jackson, and 17-year-old Claudia Rose, from Cork, with Misty Blue by Dorothy Moore. They both did amazingly but only one of them would be staying in the competition…

After seeing all his acts perform, Ricky decided that the three acts he would be taking through to the live shows would be Stevie, Emmanuel and Autumn!
Now it was the turn of Sir Tom to see all his eight acts perform. With DTwinz sent home by Rita, would the other duo in the competition – Joyful Soundz – have what it takes to go through to the next stage? The pair of thirtysomethings from Luton started things off with Optimism by Sounds Of Blaackness. Would their Optimism pay off?
Karl Loxley is one of those acts that stand out and not necessarily for the right reasons. Singers with an operatic or stage-show style don’t usually make it to the final stages of the competition, but would the 24 year old from Coventry have any success with Elton John’s Your Song?
The youngest member of Team Tom was the next performer to take to the stage. Sixteen-year-old Rosa Iamele went back to the 1970s with Blondie’s Heart Of Glass but would it take her ahead in the competition?
Daniel Duke, 24, from Northern Ireland, performed one of the smash hit songs of last year – Taylor Swift’s Shake It Off – but would it be a hit with Sir Tom of the Jones?
Unlike Daniel, Sasha Simone performed a song that barely touched the charts – Lost And Found by Lianne Le Havas. Would her choice put the 25 year old from Birmingham in Tom’s top three?
Sharon Murphy from County Clare in Ireland touched Tom in places that other singers couldn’t reach – with her voice, obviously! Would he feel the same way when she performed Barbra Streisand’s Woman In Love?
After seeing Christina and Letitia in Team Ricky, would Lara Lee be a bit more of the same voice-wise when she performed God Bless The Child by Billie Holiday? The other girls didn’t make it to the live shows, but would this 29-year-old from Brixton in London have the edge and win a place in Tom’s final three?

Last up was Howard Rose with Proud Mary by Creedance Clearwater Revival. Wow! That handsome 28 year old from Stockport sure can sing!
After seeing all his acts perform, Tom chose his final three – Sasha, Lara and Howard.
