The X Factor: Week four!
The best and worst of the auditions from Belfast and Birmingham have been shown in the fourth week of The X Factor. Among the more bizarre acts were twins Michelle and Julie, who make a living singing at funerals. However the 44-year-olds, who claim to "do absolutely everything together" and turned up to the audition in matching outfits, did little to impress Simon Cowell. "I'd actually want to throw myself in the coffin after that," he told the pair, while the other judges branded them "depressing". Meanwhile Carole, who compared herself to Whitney Houston, was shown the door after her rendition of Love Will Build A Bridge, leaving Simon, in his own words, "depressed and fed up". In fact the standard of the auditions was so low that he even threatened to give up all together and head for another city, while Louis branded them the "worst ever". But it wasn't all bad news. Dance teacher Shelley brought a smile to Simon's face with an energetic routine to Liberty X's Just A Little, and won her way through to boot camp. There was also success for girl trio Aphrodisiac and 14-year-old Christian, who charmed the judges with his rendition of Can You Feel The Love Tonight. And pensioner Maria made an impact with her self-penned song Wild and Sexy, although failed to make it through to the next round. Much of the judges' praise however, was saved for 15-year-old Dominic, who was described as "super-talented" by Simon after his rendition of Mack The Knife, and single mum Natasha Benjamin, who brought her seven-year-old daughter Jasmine to the audition. Natasha, who admitted to having escaped a violent relationship, wept as the judges - and Jasmine - unanimously voted her through to boot camp.
