Elly is thrilled, thinking this could be the perfect career choice, especially as she will be able to work her hours around the baby when it's born.
Knowing that she will need a reference, she asks Susan if she would do the honours, and Susan agrees... but things are about to turn seriously sour.
Elly is fuming when she gets off the phone with a tutoring agency and reveals they wouldn't even give her an interview after they had spoken to Susan.
Wanting to know what her aunt has said to the company, Elly goes in all guns blazing and demands an explanation from Susan... who tries to defend herself as Elly accuses her of letting her down.
Susan tells Elly that while she fought to paint a positive picture of her teaching career, the tutoring company kept asking why Elly left her last job and eventually Susan had to tell the truth.
Elly is upset that Susan didn't lie for her and storms off, with Karl left to comfort Susan and reassure her that she did the right thing.
But will Elly ever be able to forgive Susan? And will she ever manage to get her career back on track?
Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5
Claire is Assistant Managing Editor at What To Watch and has been a journalist for over 15 years, writing about everything from soaps and TV to beauty, entertainment, and even the Royal Family. After starting her career at a soap magazine, she ended up staying for 13 years, and over that time she’s pulled pints in the Rovers Return, sung karaoke in the Emmerdale village hall, taken a stroll around Albert Square, and visited Summer Bay Surf Club in sunny Australia.
After learning some tricks of the trade at websites Digital Spy, Entertainment Daily, and Woman & Home, Claire landed a role at What’s On TV and whattowatch.com writing about all things TV and film, with a particular love for Aussie soaps, Strictly Come Dancing and Bake Off.
She’s interviewed everyone from June Brown — AKA Dot Cotton — to Michelle Keegan, swapped cooking tips with baking legend Mary Berry backstage at the NTAs, and danced the night away with soap stars at countless awards bashes. There’s not a lot she doesn’t know about soaps and TV and can be very handy when a soapy question comes up in a pub quiz!
As well as all things soap-related, Claire also loves running, spa breaks, days out with her kids, and getting lost in a good book.
