Scruffts: Britain’s Favourite Dog, 8.00pm, C4
After their pedigree pals have taken centre stage at Crufts, it’s now time for some lovable crossbreeds to take their well-deserved turn in the spotlight. This special documentary, hosted by Alan Carr, follows the inspirational stories of the six finalists, who have been whittled down from over 1,300 dogs to be in the running for the Family Crossbreed of the Year Award. There’s gorgeous Honey, who helps homeless people open up; brave Milo, who was rescued from the streets of Romania, and lovely ‘Golden Oldie’ Missy. Which deserving dog will Alan and esteemed dog-show judge Frank Kane choose as the winner? Rating: ****
Requiem, 9.00pm, BBC1
The shocks just keep on coming! When Matilda hears Hal’s messages revealing the information he has discovered about Janice, she makes a last-ditch attempt to get to the truth. But after an altercation with Nick, she becomes convinced that little Davey is in danger. So the pair head to spooky Dean House, where an epic confrontation leads Matilda to finally get some answers – but at what cost? Rating: ****
Pilgrimage, 9.00pm, BBC2 (ex Scotland)
Imagine The Real Marigold Hotel meets a Bear Grylls survival show, as seven celebrities begin a pilgrimage through the steep Spanish hills to the shrine of St James the Apostle. Catholic-raised Debbie McGee, atheist Neil Morrissey and Christian Rev. Kate Bottley are among the stars examining their faith and spirituality as they tackle the demanding 800km trek, pushing themselves beyond their limits and dealing with difficult emotions and memories. It may sound like another excuse to put celebs through the mill, but this three-parter turns out to be a truly thought-provoking and well-made piece of telly. Rating: *****
