The Big Audition, 9pm, (not Scot) / ITV
What is it really like to audition for a West End show, or get a gig as a model or even a stunt double? This series lifts the lid on the audition process by following a variety of budding performers all hoping to get their big break. First up, online pet shop PurrfectlyYappy is looking for a canine model. Fashion-conscious Chihuahua Queenie Woof Woof, seasoned pro Archie the Westie and cute Brussels Griffon puppy Cyril are in the running, but your heart will be lost to one-eyed rescue dog Daisy. Which pup has what it takes to be a star? Meanwhile, a series of suitably majestic ‘Henry VIIIs’ try to land a plum gig at Hampton Court Palace.

Great Model Railway Challenge, 8pm, Channel 5
The world of model railways is not known to be a cut-throat business, but that’s about to change with this new contest. Each week, three teams compete to be crowned the nation’s best modellers. This week’s miniature landscape has the theme of classic movies. All aboard!

A Discovery of Witches, 9pm, Sky One
It seems a bit early to be meeting the parents, if you ask us, but Diana’s heading to Matthew’s mother’s house in France, and she’s not a welcome guest. It seems Matthew’s progressive attitude towards inter-species romance isn’t inherited. Worse still, it turns out that mummy’s a witch killer, which is rather awkward. Back in Oxford, there’s another unwelcome visitor as Juliette arrives demanding to see Matthew, but the real danger lurks with the Congregation, who are furious to discover that Matthew has ‘abducted’ a witch. They’re determined to put a stop to this fledgling romance… Can love really conquer all?

My Favourite Sketch, 10pm, GOLD
Actress and self-confessed comedy geek Sally Phillips hosts this new series in which some of our most-loved comedians pick their favourite sketches. First up is Paul Whitehouse, who kicks off with one of his comedy influences – Monty Python. He also revisits some classic Laurel and Hardy, Steve Coogan as Alan Partridge and his friends Kathy Burke and Harry Enfield as a pair of stroppy teenagers from 1997’s Harry Enfield and Chums. Paul also chats about how he got started in comedy and ends with a re-enactment of a typically off-the-wall Reeves and Mortimer sketch.
