Actress and Mancunian Sally Lindsay tells the story of the early years of suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst, and how a working mum from Manchester became a global icon and leader of a revolution. This film (previously on BBC1 North West) also acts as a tribute to Manchester, and how Emmeline’s experiences there influenced her fight for equality before the campaign moved to Parliament. A fascinating retelling of a story we think we know. Rating: ****
Long Lost Family: What Happened Next, 9pm, ITV
This catch-up show is always a weepie and tonight’s episode is no different. Last year, divorced Marion and James finally found the son, Simon, they’d been forced to give up as teenagers in the 1970s. But their emotional reunion was only half the story as the pair ended up saving Simon’s life. Coronary heart disease runs in James’ family and if Simon hadn’t met his birth parents and gone on to have a quadruple heart bypass, he’d be dead by now. Also tonight, a man comes to terms with his complicated history. Rating: *****
World Cup, 6.15pm, BBC1
England’s young squad start their World Cup adventure today, as they take on Tunisia (k-o 7pm) in their Group G game. With Belgium also in the group, there’s not much wiggle room if things go sideways, so Harry Kane and co need to start with a bang. Manager Gareth Southgate has picked only five players from the 2014 World Cup, relying less on experience and more on form. Other matches today: Sweden v South Korea (ITV, k-o 1pm), Belgium v Panama (BBC1, k-o 4pm). Rating: ****
