Troy: Fall of a City, 9.10pm, BBC1

Two of the most fearsome men in this epic saga are embroiled in a gruesome fight to the death this week. After a huge battle on the beach, with many killed on either side, supreme Greek warrior Achilles, who says he’s the son of a goddess and many believe is magically protected, lays down the challenge to Trojan prince and new dad Hector. The savage sword fight gets going with Hector’s anguished royal family watching from atop the city walls, including his wife Andromache, holding their newborn child. With both Achilles and Hector being master swordsmen, it’s all a question of who flinches first… Rating: ****

It’s 80 years since the BBC first broadcast the famous annual boat race between the universities of Oxford (in the dark blue boat) and Cambridge (light blue).

This Danish hostage drama has done a superb job of maintaining the tension – and it’s showing no signs of stopping! After the revelation that Naja’s new man wasn’t the sensitive beau she thought he was, there’s another shock in store… Meanwhile, some of the captives make a very dangerous move, and we learn more about Bodil’s tragic history. Rating: *****
