The Three Day Nanny, 9.00pm, More4
No-nonsense nanny Kathryn Mewes returns for a third series to help more desperate families as they face toddlers that would challenge even this modern-day Mary Poppins. First up are Luton-based Livia and Paul, who are battling with their two-year-old son Sebastian. He rules the roost at home, making sure he gets his own way with some spectacular tantrums. He will bite, kick, run off and, if all else fails, hit his own head on whatever hard surface is in range. After spending many years trying to start a family, the couple just want to love and treasure their little miracle. Kathryn needs to introduce some discipline, but Sebastian proves to be one tough toddler to tame. Rating: ***
Paul O’Grady: For the Love of Dogs, 8.30pm, ITV
It’s back to school this week for three gorgeous dogs, who all require some kind of training. While Jack Russell Buster must relearn how to walk on all four legs after suffering injuries to a rear limb, sad mongrel Ben was abandoned at Battersea and has to be taught some confidence to get the smile back on his face. There will be grins all round, though, at the sight of unbearably cute puppy May, who needs socialisation after being hand-reared when she was rejected by her German shepherd mum. Luckily, Paul – despite his outrageously false claim that he can’t bear puppies – is more than happy to help out, although his attempt to get May to sit leaves rather a lot to be desired! Rating: *****
The Ganges with Sue Perkins, 9.00pm, BBC1 (ex Scot)
Sue visits Varanasi, a beautiful, bustling, but stinking metropolis like no other place on earth. To die here is a great honour, and death is quite literally in the air, as 150 bodies a day are cremated on pyres on the river banks. The constant onslaught of this crazy city nearly breaks Sue, but it’s not a place she will ever forget. In nearby Deura, she meets the Green Gang, a bunch of women who roam the village to protect others from domestic violence. Rating: ****
