Michael Palin in North Korea, 9pm, Channel 5
As Michael Palin continues his mission to get to know the real North Korea, he tries to help out a farmer as she tends her crops. He’s hoping that, while bashing the dry, rocky soil with their shovels, the pair can enjoy a chat about the reality of living under the regime. But this is North Korea, where everything is different, including how you make foreign TV presenters feel at home. “You are unnecessary. You would be more of a burden on us, as we need people that are good at farming,” she says. Ouch! As well as straight-talking farmers, Michael is shown more of what his guides want him to see – mainly huge building projects and some pretty waterfalls. Rating: ****

This patchy series finally hits its stride tonight, as Holly (Charlotte Riley) faces a dilemma. Editor Amina (Priyanga Burford) and the news editor clash over The Herald’s coverage of Joshua West. Holly’s adamant they should be going after the sleazy tycoon, who’s been grooming young female apprentices for sex, but her boss demands she drop the story. Rating: ****
Gareth Malone’s All Star Music Quiz, 7pm (not Scot), BBC2
If you can control a choir, you can run a quiz show, right? That’s the thinking behind this Music Day special hosted by Gareth Malone, with John Thomson, Ed Balls, Rob Rouse, YolanDa Brown, Pippa Evans and JB Gill, who all play the answers to the musical questions on an instrument of their choice. Rating: ****
