Long Lost Family, 9.30pm, ITV
As Nicky Campbell and Davina McCall put us through the wringer once more with the return of the highly addictive blub-fest, they kick off with emotional searches on behalf of two of their youngest participants. First up is Irishman Pearse, 29, who has never met his dad Edilson (‘Eddie’), and has only had a brief phone call with him when he was a boy. But after hearing a rumour that Eddie has been ill, Pearse embarks on a trip to New York to find him. Meanwhile, Christina, 27, was born in Colombia and adopted by a British family, and she is utterly stunned by the discovery Nicky makes when he heads to Bogota to track down her birth mum… Rating: *****
Inside the Factory, 8pm, BBC2
As the series returns for a fourth run, Gregg Wallace wakes up and smells the coffee – literally – as he travels to a huge instant-coffee factory in Derbyshire to see how, among other things, they capture that ‘freshly brewed’ smell as you pierce the jar’s foil lid. Cherry Healey goes cold turkey while learning about the chemistry of coffee as she gives up caffeine, and Ruth Goodman finds out why coffee is ‘a cup of Joe’. Rating: ****
Knightfall, 9pm, History
Get ready for a tale of swords and chivalry in this new action-packed series about a group of medieval knights who return from the Crusades and embark upon a quest for the Holy Grail. Set at the turn of the 14th Century, this 10-part drama opens with a spectacular battle at Acre, before following the knights back to the court of King Philip IV of France, where Landry de Lauzon is handed a special mission… Tom Cullen (of Downton Abbey and Gunpowder fame) plays the handsome and heroic Landry, with a fine supporting cast that includes Ed Stoppard (Home Fires) as King Philip and Tom’s fellow Downton alumnus, the unmistakable Jim Carter, as Pope Bonifiace VIII.
