Greg and Marie have been married for 19 years and have three children aged 17, 14 and five. As this drama begins it’s nine months after mum Marie (Paula Malcomson) suddenly walked out saying she was “drowning”. The first episode is told from the perspective of Greg (Christopher Eccleston), a hardworking dad who is completely at a loss as to why his wife has left. The children are devastated, but still Marie won’t come home. What has happened to make her take such drastic action? The emotional story, filmed and set in Belfast, plays out over three episodes as this gutsy drama explores the taboo of a mother leaving her children. Rating: ****

“There’s nothing more disgusting than happy people,” says the gloriously ghastly Pauline in this tip-top finale to a sublime series. But happiness is exactly what we want for Cathy (Leslie Manville) and Michael (Peter Mullan)… As the family gather on Bonfire Night will the pair finally declare their love for each other once and for all? Rating: *****
The Great Celebrity Bake Off, 8pm, C4
Following Nick Hewer and Jamie Laing’s valiant bids to be the most cack-handed contestant the tent has ever seen, Lee Mack turns up at this week’s Stand Up to Cancer Bake Off not knowing what a cooking apple looks like. As Lee (who used to share a flat with presenter Noel Fielding) struggles with the basics, his competitors Griff Rhys Jones, Joe Lycett and Melanie Sykes get going with their blondie recipes. Paul claims that blondies – a culinary cousin of brownies – are the simplest thing in the world to bake, but we’ll see about that… Finally, the showstopper challenge demands our famous foursome produce a cake with a big surprise. As long as the surprise isn’t food poisoning! Rating: *****
