What’s On TV Tonight? Our Pick Of The Best Shows: Wednesday 13th December
TV Times team top picks for tonight
What’s on telly tonight? Here the TV Times team of expert reviewers highlight three of the best shows on telly tonight for Wednesday 13th December
Taskmaster: Champion of Champions, 9.00pm, Dave
Greg Davies and Alex Horne are back with a two-parter pitting the winners from the show’s five series against each other. Noel Fielding, Katherine Ryan, Josh Widdicombe, Rob Beckett and Bob Mortimer are the comedians tackling the surreal challenges, which include making an edible mask (cue Bob ordering in several bags of Wotsits). Expect Rob to show a competitive side, Noel to reveal a love of hoovering, and the winner to walk away with a fabulous trophy. Rating: ****
Penelope Keith’s Coastal Villages, 9.00pm, More4
After the success of the actress’s Hidden Villages comes this new series, where Penelope Keith explores some of the villages dotted around the UK’s coast. There, she delves into their history, meets many of the people who live there and hears their stories. The first episode finds her in West Sussex and the Isle of Wight. In Bosham, she learns the real reason behind King Canute’s battle with the tide, while in Birdham, she meets Olympian Sarah Ayton for a sail up the estuary. Like its predecessor, this all takes place at an appropriately leisurely pace, making for a thoroughly satisfying and engaging watch. Rating: ****
Country House Secrets, 8.00pm, BBC1
Mary Berry’s final country house sojourn finds her in West Sussex’s Goodwood House. With owner Lord March, she attends a banquet, takes a drive in a classic car, samples Prince Philip’s favourite tipple and takes in a cricket match. Of course, no edition would be complete without culinary treats, and Mary serves up a mouthwatering breakfast, and a delicious-looking strawberry and lemon curd cake. Rating: *****
More previews tomorrow.
