Would I Lie To You?, 9 pm, BBC One
After an absence of a few weeks, the popular series returns tonight. It’s slightly surreal to see David Mitchell and TOWIE’s Gemma Collins inhabiting the same universe, let alone the same team. In fact, the latter may now hold the record for the longest WILTY? story ever – as Rob Brydon remarks, ‘Viewers will be pleased to hear that Gemma’s answer is now available as a talking book.’ Over on Lee Mack’s team, is Sally Lindsay telling the truth when she claims to have mistaken a cleaner for a doctor when having an intimate examination?

Yellowjackets season 2, Paramount Plus
How members of a girls’ school soccer team survived in the wilderness for 19 months by resorting to savagery after their plane crashed and how they have adjusted (or not) to normal life 25 years later is at the heart of this thriller. The action takes place across two timelines – 1996 and 2021 – and, as this second season begins, adult Misty (Christina Ricci) is helping Shauna (Melanie Lynskey) cover up the murder of her lover. But Shauna’s daughter is beginning to have suspicions… Meanwhile, perpetual outsider Misty is contacted by a fellow citizen detective, played by Elijah Wood.

Shadow and Bone is perfect for fantasy fans waiting for their next big fix. Season 2 picks up with Alina Starkov (Jessie Mei Li) on the run after escaping from General Kirigan's (Ben Barnes) grasp at the end of the first season. Here, she's determined to bring down the Shadow Fold, the rift of darkness that divides Ravka in half. Kirigan's got other ideas, though, as he's returned from the center of the Fold with powerful new monsters at his beck and call. Expect more magic, more characters, and more romance.

Best film on TV tonight
Identity Thief, 10:45 pm, ITV1
Soon to be seen as Ursula in Disney’s live-action remake of The Little Mermaid, Melissa McCarthy stars here as a grifter who steals the identity of a mild-mannered accountant (Ozark’s Jason Bateman). He sets out to stop her, which results in a madcap road trip from Florida to Denver. It’s not particularly subtle, but the main attraction in a Melissa McCarthy film is undoubtedly Melissa McCarthy and she’s never less than terrific.
