Best TV shows on TV tonight

Black Ops, 9.30 pm, BBC One (not Wales)/iPlayer (box set)

As undercover PCSOs Dom (Gbemisola Ikumelo) and Kay (Hammed Animashaun) start feeling the heat, churchgoer Kay turns to God to enlighten the young people on the estate with the ‘Gospel Rap’ of Pastor Tomi (Lucian Msamati), to assuage his guilt. When a drug deal goes awry, the duo need money and quick, so there’s only one thing for it: they must ‘loan’ the cash from Pastor Tomi’s album fund... With laugh-out-loud moments and a cameo from an Outnumbered star like you’ve never seen him before, Black Ops is the real deal.

Susan Calman's Grand Day Out series 5, 8 pm, Channel 5

Susan and Helen Mirren (Susan’s camper van, not the Oscar-winning actor) are on the road again, and this time, they’re exploring Devon and the South Coast. Susan goes fossil-hunting on the beach at Lyme Regis, inspired by famous 19th-century fossilist Mary Anning, drives a tramcar on the Seaton Tramway and visits a chilli farm at Loddiswell. She also gets a tour of Agatha Christie’s holiday home, Greenway, in Dittisham. As a huge fan, Susan is fascinated to see the place that inspired Christie, and is visibly moved when she’s played a recording of the author talking about her writing process.

Hidden Treasures of the National Trust, 9 pm, BBC Two

If your nerves are jangling at the thought of another psychological thriller or action adventure, this is the show for you. Spend a soothing hour in the safe hands (well, voice) of narrator Jim Carter, who, having portrayed Downton’s Carson, is well-suited to telling us about the stately homes, gardens and castles of the National Trust. In this visit to Sissinghurst Castle and Garden in Kent, the nearest you'll get to stressful drama is an attempt to save a clematis planted in a pot by resident Vita Sackville-West. Fascinating and relaxing in equal measure.

Sorry for Your Loss, ITVX

Sorry for Your Loss star Elisabeth Olsen

Elizabeth Olsen cemented her reputation as a seriously talented actor in this smart drama about the unexpected effects of grief, first shown on Facebook Watch. It’s one of many US dramas that have been added to ITVX recently. She plays widow Leigh, who moves back in with her sparky mother Amy (a wonderful Janet McTeer) after the death of her husband Matt (Mamoudou Athie). As the two series progress, she attempts to deal with her difficult relationship with her sister, a growing attraction to her brother-in-law and the realisation that she didn’t know her partner at all.

White Men Can't Jump, Disney Plus

Sinqua Walls and Jack Harlow as Kamal and Jeremy staring at each other on a basketball court in White Men Can't Jump

Rap superstar Jack Harlow makes his movie debut in this modern remake of the iconic 1992 film about the streetball hustling culture in Los Angeles, which originally starred Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes. Jack plays Jeremy, a former star of the game, whose injuries have ended up stalling his career, while Sinqua Walls is Kamal, once a promising player who derailed his own future in the sport. But although the two ballers are polar opposites, they end up discovering they have more in common than they first thought as they juggle relationships, financial pressures and internal demons. The Wire’s Lance Reddick, who died in March, aged 60, also stars as Kamal’s father and former coach Benji.
