Best TV shows on TV tonight
The Challenge UK, 11.05 pm, Channel 5
Expect plenty of blood, sweat, tears - and romance - as 16 stars from the worlds of sport and reality shows such as TOWIE and Made in Chelsea battle it out to become The Challenge UK champion and win the £100,000 prize. Based on the popular US show and hosted by Mark Wright, this series (also available on Paramount Plus from tomorrow) is something of a cross between Total Wipeout and Love Island, with a brutal injury in tonight’s first episode quickly dispelling any notions of a celebrity jolly.
Mark absolutely revels in the gruelling challenges, mind games and villa politics, but he also ends up playing Cupid more than he would have imagined! Continues until Thursday.

Linda is desperate to ditch her L-plates so she can drive to her daughter’s place to help out with the grandkids, but after six failed driving tests, that all-important licence is still eluding her. Now, Linda and her younger sister and patient instructor Debbie have come to Scarlett Moffatt’s driving school to find out where they are going wrong. In the viewing room, pro-instructor Francis Noakes feeds useful tips to Debbie via an earpiece. Can he help Debbie to help Linda get road-ready for her seventh – and hopefully final – driving test?

Better, 9 pm, BBC One
After getting on Col’s (Andrew Buchan) bad side by arresting one of his minions, bent copper Lou (Leila Farzad) – who appears to have belatedly grown a conscience – decides not to tip off her underworld contact about a police raid on one of his cannabis farms, as the crime drama continues.
Increasingly suspicious, Col sets Lou a task in order to test her loyalty – but will she go through with it? Meanwhile, with her home life increasingly fractious, Lou looks up an ex-policeman who knew her father to find out what might happen if she turns whistleblower, and faces a tough decision at work.

Maternal, 9 pm, ITV1
It’s the day of the hospital’s investigation panel into the death of young patient Edward Williams, and it’s weighing heavily on the minds of Maryam (Parminder Nagra) and Catherine (Lara Pulver). But they both rush to support Helen (Lisa McGrillis) when they hear the shocking news about her husband, Guy (Oliver Chris).
Meanwhile, Catherine wonders how she can continue as she is, with nearly her whole salary consumed by childcare and hardly ever seeing Elis. All three of the medics are in a situation they hadn’t foreseen when the series began, both in their home and work lives, and while there are resolutions of a sort, we’re very much hoping for a second series.

If you love a good dating show, this Netflix offering could be perfect for you. In Perfect Match, stars from Netflix's popular reality shows, such as Love Is Blind, Too Hot To Handle, The Ultimatum and The Mole jet off to a tropical paradise to try and find love.
As they compete to form relationships, the most compatible couples will play matchmaker, breaking up other couples and sending them on dates with brand-new singles they’ll invite to the villa, so there's plenty of drama in store. Episodes are dropping in batches of four, so perfect binge-watch material.
