Get ready for the weird and wonderful, the farcical and fabulous, the exciting and explosive – Britain’s Got Talent is back! After being postponed last year, the much-loved talent show makes its long-awaited return to our screens, with auditions from the London Palladium. As hosts Ant and Dec beam with excitement and judges Simon, Amanda, Alesha and David take their seats on the panel, it’s like the show has never been away. Now all we need is some talent – and as these acts have had an extra year to prepare, we reckon this could be the best series yet! There are more auditions tomorrow (7.35pm, ITV).

Romeo & Duet, 7pm, ITV

TV tonight Host Oti Mabuse.

Former Strictly star Oti Mabuse makes her hosting debut in this show that crams a load of different TV elements into an hour-long package. It’s got singing, dating and studio-audience votes and even has touches of Blind Date for those of us old enough to remember the Cilla years. We can’t help wondering which came first – the title for the show or the idea for the show? Still, it’s fun, Oti does a sound job and there are some great singers showcasing their talents, even if we’re not convinced anyone is actually going to find love…

Casualty, 8.35pm, BBC One

TV tonight Jan (Diane Botcher) and Teddy (Milo Clarke).

Determined to get Teddy (Milo Clarke) to return to Manchester, Gaynor dumps her recovering son’s get-well gifts (in a flagrant act of littering!) so he thinks his colleagues don’t care and hands in his notice. But Holby’s not quite done with Teddy. When homeless patient Al needs help, the young paramedic springs into action, but both Teddy and Al end up in the ED. Gaynor issues him with an ultimatum – will she get her way? Elsewhere, Stevie embarks on a frenzied plan to clear her name, which causes Faith concern!

Oasis Night, from 9.35pm, BBC Two

This week, BBC Two is devoting part of its evening schedule to Oasis, the band who bestrode the mid-1990s charts like a swaggering colossus – the top two best-selling songs of the Britpop era were Wonderwall and Don’t Look Back in Anger. As well as Later Presents Oasis and the documentary Right Here, Right Now (10.35pm), the band also feature in TOTP: Biggest Hits 1995 (8.35pm) and TOTP: Oasis (11.15pm).

Best box set to watch on TV tonight

Anatomy of a Scandal, season 1, Netflix

TV tonight Rupert Friend and Sienna Miller star.

Big Little Lies creator David E. Kelley swaps the sunshine of California for the shadowy corners of Westminster in this captivating new six-part thriller adapted from Sarah Vaughan’s bestselling novel. The drama is seen through the eyes of Sophie Whitehouse (Sienna Miller) whose perfect world is turned upside down when her politician husband (Rupert Friend) is accused of sexual assault, in a tale examining power, privilege and consent. It’s a captivating story with plenty of twists – some more believable than others – which sees Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery on fine form as prosecution barrister Kate Woodcroft.

Best film to watch on TV today

Captain Marvel, 9.25pm, C4

TV tonight Brie Larson stars.

This is a more convincing female Marvel superhero flick than 2005’s Elektra, thanks largely to a punchy performance from Brie Larson. She’s an elite alien soldier fighting the shape-shifting Skrulls (headed up by the always wonderful Ben Mendelsohn), but ends up on Earth circa 1995 and hooks up with a young Nick Fury (a stunningly de-aged Samuel L Jackson), who still has two eyes and a full head of hair. Also featuring Jude Law as her antagonist mentor, this is a terrifically fun adventure, with enough wit and whiz to sit alongside the other Marvel movies.

Live Sport

  • Women's FA Cup Semi-Final, West Ham United vs Manchester City, 12.10pm (k-o 12.15pm), BBC One
  • The FA Cup, Manchester City vs Liverpool, 3pm (k-o 3.30pm), BBC One
