Best TV shows on TV tonight
Champion, 9:15 pm, BBC One
When a drama picks up the action and sets an entire episode in a different location, it can go either way, but as tonight’s instalment of the Champion saga moves to Jamaica, it’s a real milestone in the series. Beres (Ray Fearon) has returned to the island for his father’s funeral, and flashbacks to his childhood show why he sets so much store by legacy, while Vita (Déja J Bowens) finally understands why Aria (Nadine Marshall) was furious when she sang an old song of hers.
Meanwhile, although Aria and Beres seem to have different feelings about Vita’s future as a singer, when they see their daughter performing with a crowd in the palm of her hand, neither can hide their pride.

Drum roll, please... The award for scene-stealer of the week goes to… (insert your own dramatic pause here) Dylan Keogh! The all-comprehending consultant isn’t the main player in tonight’s storylines, but he is a key component. Max is back and harbouring a secret – but not from our Dylan (William Beck), who deduces that he has kidney failure! A mum is being cagey about her son’s medical history?
Dylan is on the case… Paige and Teddy smuggle a pooch into the ED? Dylan has some doggie treats! The only thing he can’t quite work out (yet – but give him time) is Donna’s complicated involvement with crash victims Kerry and Ash…

The Queens that Changed the World, 7:15 pm, Channel 4
Elizabeth I is in the spotlight for the first episode of this arresting new series examining the life and times of iconic queens. Ascending to power in 1558, young Elizabeth may have privately vowed never to marry, but the canny monarch knew how to play the game and in public appeared single and ready to mingle, counting the King of Spain and Archduke of Austria among her suitors.
By 1588 Elizabeth had cemented her place in history by defending England against the Spanish Armada. Not too shabby for someone who was declared illegitimate at two years old after her father, Henry VIII, had her mother, Anne Boleyn, beheaded.

Buckingham Palace with Alexander Armstrong, 9:15pm, Channel 5
As the series continues, Alexander looks at life in the Palace at the time of George III’s reign, particularly how the king’s ill health made his behaviour erratic. Raksha Dave reveals the bathroom arrangements of the day, and JJ Chalmers looks at the quality of life below stairs.

Tony Bennett Night, from 9 pm, BBC Two
Fans of Tony Bennett, who died last month aged 96, won’t want to miss this evening of programmes dedicated to the singer Frank Sinatra called ‘the best in the business’. It begins with a concert recorded in 2011 at the London Palladium, marking his 85th birthday, which sees him perform favourites including I Left My Heart in San Francisco and The Good Life, with guests Leona Lewis and Cleo Laine.
That’s followed by a feature-length Arena: Tony Bennett’s New York (10pm) and Tony Bennett Sings… (from 11.20pm). You can also see an intimate 2007 concert from LSO St Luke’s, London, on BBC iPlayer for a limited time.

Best box set on TV tonight
Silo is set in a tragic, toxic future, Rebecca plays Juliette, or Jules, an independent and hardworking engineer. Jules lives in a community in a giant silo hundreds of stories deep, which is the only way to survive on a planet where the air is poisonous. The survivors are forced to follow the strict rules they believe are meant to protect them. However some rebel against the regulations and dare to hope and dream for a better future.
These people are considered to be dangerous and the punishment for breaking the rules is simple — they are forced outside to "clean". And that’s a task they won’t survive.

Best film on TV tonight
When Harry Met Sally, 10:20 pm, BBC One
It’s frequently remembered for the ‘I’ll have what she’s having’ scene in a New York diner, but this 1980s classic is so much more than that. With a sublime script by Nora Ephron and Rob Reiner in the director’s seat, this is simply one of the best romantic comedies ever made (plus, note to those bloated over-long epics which are in fashion now: it has a neat running time of just over 90 minutes). Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal star as the pair whose friendship seems doomed because he maintains that ‘sex gets in the way’…
