Best TV shows on TV tonight
Malpractice, 9 pm, ITV1
This superb thriller puts a tense and twisty spin on the medical-drama genre by examining the fallout after a harsh, unforgiving spotlight is shone on a doctor’s actions. After talented but troubled medic Lucinda Edwards (Deceit’s compelling Niamh Algar) makes a fateful decision during a busy A&E shift, she finds herself having to answer questions from the tough Medical Investigation Unit.
But nothing is as it seems and that’s only the start of her problems… With heart-stopping shocks and a powerful flavour of authenticity thanks to writer Grace Ofori-Attah’s background as a doctor, this new series looks set to keep us hooked!

Absolutely Dyer: Danny and Dani Do Italy, 9 pm, E4
Get the What to Watch Newsletter
The latest updates, reviews and unmissable series to watch and more!
The Dyers, father and daughter, are in Italy, where dad Danny’s keen to introduce Dani to Italian culture and cuisine. What they actually discover is they’re not big fans of travelling, but they know how to have fun together. The series kicks off in Sicily with the pair climbing an active volcano and going squid fishing. Delightfully themselves, the Dyers are hilariously entertaining as accidental tourists in this colourful (ie sweary) travelogue.

Derren Brown: Showman, 9 pm, Channel 4
Master of mentalism Derren returns to C4 for the first time in three years with a televised performance of his recent hit stage tour Showman. This one-off dabbles in hypnosis, telepathy and old-school circus tricks, but Derren also claims this is his most intimate work yet. And as he opens up about his own life, interwoven with reflections on human connection and emotional wellbeing after recent hard, isolating times, it’s lip-wobbling as well as mind-boggling stuff!

London Marathon, 8:30 am, BBC One and 2:15 pm, BBC Two
The London Marathon is now back in its traditional April slot, after Covid pushed the annual event back to October for the past three years. Last year’s men’s and women’s races were won by Amos Kipruto and Yalemzerf Yehualaw, and this year, Mo Farah is competing again. Start time is 9.30am, and, as always, there will be countless celebrities running, including the EastEnders team taking part for charity in memory of Barbara Windsor.

Best box set on TV tonight
Obsession, Netflix
From the Regency romp Bridgerton to the saucy shenanigans of Sex Education, Netflix is developing a reputation for spicy television, and this four-part erotic thriller might be it's most lustful yet. The Stranger’s Richard Armitage and Happy Valley’s Charlie Murphy star in the intoxicating tale of top surgeon William Farrow, who becomes infatuated with his son’s fiancée, Anna (this adaptation of Josephine Hart’s novel Damage delves further into Anna’s story than the 1992 film starring Jeremy Irons and Juliette Binoche).
Filled with lies, deceit and plenty of bedroom antics, it’s a compelling look at the destructive power of forbidden desire.

Best film on TV tonight
Back to the Future, 3:30 pm, ITV1
Teenager Marty McFly travels back to the 1950s in a time machine built by his eccentric inventor friend. The return journey proves tricky enough, but he also accidentally alters the sequence of events that led to his parents falling in love - and has to persuade his future dad to win his mother's heart, or he will never be born. Sci-fi comedy adventure, starring Michael J Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson and Crispin Glover.
Live Sport
