Why Didn't They Ask Evans?, 9 pm, ITV1/ITVX (box set)

It’s a shame that young adventurers Bobby Jones (Will Poulter) and Lady Frankie Derwent (Lucy Boynton) only appeared in one Agatha Christie novel, as they prove a winning crime-solving duo in this glorious star-studded adaptation (first shown on BritBox). After a dying man delivers some curious last words, the pair become embroiled in a brilliantly twisty investigation which leads them to a mysterious country house and a raft of dangerous secrets… Look out for Hugh Laurie, who has penned and directed the drama, as a rather creepy doctor, while Jim Broadbent and Emma Thompson have lovely cameos as Frankie’s parents. Continues tomorrow and Tuesday.

We were immensely saddened to learn of the death of Paul O’Grady on March 28. Paul was a TV icon like no other. Starting out his career as a social worker and performing as his drag alter ego Lily Savage in London gay bar the Royal Vauxhall Tavern, he made the transition to mainstream TV stardom – first as Lily, then later as himself – without losing any of his edge, and Paul remained an outspoken advocate for the less fortunate in society. In this affectionate and heartfelt tribute, those who knew and loved Paul share their memories of his life and career.

The Great Celebrity Bake Off, 7.40 pm, Channel 4

A super-relaxed Paddy McGuinness sets his stall out early by cheerfully declaring,
‘I know I’m useless.’ Brilliantly, he even struggles with tying his apron! Competing against him is comic Ellie Taylor, who is hoping she won’t kill the judges, while The Inbetweeners’ Joe Thomas wonders if he can hypnotise them and Loose Women’s Coleen Nolan claims to be ‘allergic to kitchens’!

First, they make Jaffa cakes for the Signature, before a pastry-based Technical. Then, for the Showstopper, they construct their home towns in biscuit-form – featuring everything from Blackpool Tower to Chelmsford Bus Station. Who will emerge victorious?

Following the finale of Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, this one-off documentary allows cameras backstage for the first time, as hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly reveal what happens months, weeks and even seconds before the show goes live. As well as uncovering backstage secrets, it details what’s involved in planning popular segments such as the Undercover pranks and Get Out of Me Ear – and how they cope when things go wrong…

Wild Isles, 7 pm, BBC One/iPlayer (box set)

This series has been a real Sunday-evening treat. But now it’s time to say farewell with an episode that looks at the extraordinary wildlife living in our seas and oceans. In stunning sequences, cameras capture otters, spiny seahorses, vast starfish and flocks of gannets as they plunge up to 20m underwater to catch fish. We also hear the success story of the grey seal, which arrives in record numbers to the North Sea off Norfolk every autumn, and see footage of enormous basking sharks feeding open-mouthed on plankton. But it’s the familiar sight of Sir David Attenborough presenting what could be his last film on location that’s this episode’s highlight.
