Best TV shows on TV tonight
Gods of Tennis, 9 pm, BBC Two/iPlayer
The greatest rivalry in women’s tennis started in the 1970s when Czech Martina Navratilova began to challenge the dominance of US star Chris Evert, who’d won the first of her 18 Grand Slams as a teenager in 1974. By 1978, Navratilova was pushing Evert for the world No 1 spot and they met in the 1978 Wimbledon final. In a thrilling three sets, Navratilova edged it to win the first of her 18 Grand Slam titles. Both players talk about this pivotal match, amazing rivalry and enduring friendship – they are still mates today. This is a glorious look back at the heyday of women’s tennis, and hearing both women speak so frankly is very special.

Van Der Valk season 3, 8 pm, ITV1
There are two new recruits when moody detective Piet Van der Valk (Marc Warren) returns to solve more crimes in Amsterdam. As this third series begins, Piet and his right-hand woman, Inspector Lucienne Hassell (Maimie McCoy) are joined by Sergeants Eddie Suleman (Azan Ahmed) and Citra Li (Django Chan-Reeves), who are super-keen to impress their boss! The first of three cases sees the team investigating the dramatic murder of a free-running champion in the Dutch capital but Piet’s complex love life is also bubbling away in the background. When he bumps into his ex, Lina (Loes Haverkort), in a hospital corridor, let’s just say it’s a frosty encounter!

We Love Glastonbury, 10 pm (times vary), BBC Two
As the next Glasto approaches, performers share their highlights from the biggest music festival in the world. Noel Gallagher explains how it feels to appear with a band, first playing with Oasis in 1994, then as a solo performer, while another Pyramid Stage veteran, Scissor Sisters’ Jake Shears, reminisces about duetting with Kylie Minogue. An updated version of the anniversary film Glastonbury: 50 Years and Counting follows (times vary, not Wales), and Glastonbury Anthems (Monday-Wednesday, times vary, BBC One) showcases classic tracks from Worthy Farm.

Ten Pound Poms, 9 pm, BBC One/iPlayer (box set)
After six glorious weeks Down Under, it’s finally time to say goodbye to the Ten Pound Poms – and the 1950s period drama certainly goes out with a bang. The arrival of Pattie’s baby and Kate’s last-ditch attempt to be reunited with her son are just two of the stories crammed into a busy finale packed with action, emotion and drama. However, one group who seem to have been forgotten is the Aboriginal community, whose subjugation has never really been fully explored. Maybe creator Danny Brocklehurst is saving that storyline for a potential second series?

Spy in the Ocean, 7 pm, BBC One
The third episode in this fascinating series looks at how ocean creatures collaborate in order to thrive and survive. We see fearsome hammerhead sharks being groomed by tiny angelfish, while spider crabs protect those in the group that have lost their shells. A spy lobster gets in amongst a ‘lobster conga’ and we watch how spinner dolphins, tuna and frigates team up to hunt flying fish. ‘Many sea creatures have found value in working together,’ says series narrator David Tennant, as our spies uncover some of the most intriguing and unexpected underwater partnerships.

Best film on TV tonight
I Love My Dad, 6.05 pm, Sky Premiere/NOW
When writer-director-star James Morosini’s dad pretended to be a pretty girl on Facebook in an attempt to restore contact with his estranged filmmaker son, he could hardly have imagined the result. This is a based-on-true-events cringe comedy which sees well-meaning but deluded Chuck (Patton Oswalt) catfish the vulnerable Franklin (Morosini) by using oblivious waitress Becca (Claudia Sulewski) as his online avatar. The queasy confusions that follow are played for maximum awkwardness. Overall, though, Morosini’s farce feels rather too forgiving towards the daddy of all deceptions. On GREAT! Movies, there are Father’s Day films all afternoon – Daddy Day Care (2.50 pm), Big Daddy (4.40pm) and Big Fish (6.35 pm).
