Jason & Clara: In Memory of Maudie, 9 pm, ITV1

In the early hours of New Year’s Day 2011, actor Jason Watkins and his wife Clara Francis lost their two-and-a-half-year-old daughter Maudie to sepsis. Now, they’re telling their story for the first time, as they allow cameras to follow them during an emotional house move from the flat where their daughter was born and died. The powerful film also sees the couple unpack their daughter’s things for the first time, finally have counselling together as a couple and meet other bereaved parents. At times their emotion is so raw you want to look away. But breaking the taboo surrounding child loss is why Jason and Clara wanted to make this documentary – and exactly why it’s a must-watch… ★★★★★ HD

Billy Connolly Does..., 9 pm, GOLD/NOW (box set)

In the second series of his documentary, the comedian opens up about the heroes and villains he’s encountered in his lifetime. Interspersed with footage from his stand-up gigs, the show sees him discuss everyone from sadistic teachers to a baggage handler who tackled a suicide bomber. There are emotional moments when Billy opens up about his beloved late sister, Flo, and the cruelty his aunts inflicted upon him. But regardless of whether he’s discussing those he has loved or loathed, Billy manages to paint a hilarious picture of all those who’ve had an impact on him.

Gordon Ramsay is back for a second run of Future Food Stars, which sees up-and-coming food entrepreneurs take on tough food challenges in order to win a £150,000 investment. In the series opener, we see the 12 contestants head to Glenapp Castle in Ayrshire, where they must rustle up a five-star outdoor banquet for 30 people. And it’s not long before food is burning, there are arguments over cocktails and the service is less than timely. Who will survive Ramsay’s famous grilling and who will see their plans for their business ventures go up in flames

Taskmaster, 9 pm, Channel 4

Greg Davies and his constant companion ‘Little’ Alex Horne return for another series of TV’s most reliably hilarious game show to exercise their reign of comic control over five new contestants – Frankie Boyle, Jenny Eclair, Ivo Graham, Feel Good’s Mae Martin and Ghosts’ Kiell Smith-Bynoe. The chemistry between the gang is palpable from the off (the fact that there’s an act of direct sabotage in the first episode bodes well), and the tasks are as admirably unpredictable as ever. The biggest takeaway from this opener, though? If Jenny ever offers to take you somewhere on a barge, say no

Six Four, ITVX (box set)

Grey’s Anatomy’s Kevin McKidd stars in this Glasgow-set thriller as a detective whose world falls apart when his teenage daughter, Olivia, goes missing. Inspired by Hideo Yokoyama’s best-selling novel, the drama follows Chris as he unravels a web of corruption when the case of a missing girl from 16 years ago re-emerges at the same time as his daughter’s disappearance. Meanwhile, Chris’s wife, Michelle (Boiling Point’s Vinette Robinson), a former undercover officer, heads to London to revisit an underworld she’s tried to leave behind. Taut, compelling and complex, this four-parter will have you hooked!
