Libby, Are You Home Yet?, 9 pm, Sky Crime and NOW
On January 31, 2019, 21-year-old philosophy student Libby Squire was turned away from a nightclub in Hull for being too drunk, so her friend got her a taxi home. But Libby never got there and this three-part documentary charts her disappearance, the huge manhunt that followed and the eventual murder trial and conviction of Polish butcher Pawel Relowicz. Including interviews with Libby’s mum Lisa, her friends and those involved in the investigation, it tells the heartbreaking story of an ordinary night out that went so badly wrong.

Lost Worlds With Ben Fogle, 9 pm, Channel 5
In the 1950s Detroit was the richest city in America. Now, huge parts of the former global powerhouse resemble a war zone. Crime is sky-high, schools are closed, factories derelict and houses abandoned. It looks like a natural disaster has ripped through, except this tsunami was all man-made, as the perfect storm of economic collapse, an influx of drugs and an exodus of people has left the city a crumbling shadow of what it once was. Ben is definitely a fish out of water as he explores the no-go areas and is moved to tears by one woman’s story of losing three children to violent crime. But he also finds hope as he tracks down the inspiring individuals who refuse to give up on their troubled city.

The Love Box In Your Living Room, 9 pm, BBC Two
Comedians Paul Whitehouse and Harry Enfield celebrate 100 years of the BBC with a montage of films inspired by real events from the past century. Archive footage edited with their own satirical sketches blends comedy with fact. For instance, who knew that Muffin the Mule was axed because of its connection to the world of drugs? Or that the first TV broadcast on 2 November 1936 was viewed by only 400 people. The duo also includes a spoof of David Attenborough’s educational film about sex featuring, not animals, but Sir James Dyson’s parents. A silly but entertaining romp through BBC history.

Gangs of London Season 2, Sky TV
In the second season of this hard-hitting crime drama, we pick up the action one year later to find all is not well with undercover cop Eliot Finch (Sope Dirisu), now working as an assassin for "the investors". Back in London, Alex Dumani (The Capture’s Paapa Essiedu) is heading up Dumani Finance, while his sister Shannon (Pippa Bennett-Warner), who grew close to Eliot, is still in jail.
And as we are introduced to a new Algerian gang, it transpires that someone is selling guns without the permission of the people who run the underworld. Waleed Zuaiter joins the cast as the terrifying enforcer Koba. The action scenes are violent but brilliantly choreographed.

Best film on TV tonight
American Gigolo, 11.25 pm, Film4
It's compares and contrast time. On Paramount Plus there’s the TV series starring Jon Bernthal as the lothario who sleeps with middle-aged women for money. But back in 1980, this hit movie saw Richard Gere in the role of Julian, a sex worker who finds business and pleasure hopelessly entangled after falling for one of his customers (Lauren Hutton in the role Gretchen Mol plays in the update). It’s a role tailored to Gere’s strengths and he delivers a sensitive portrait of the loneliness of the long-distance lover. ★★★★ SM
