Best TV shows on TV tonight

The Piano, 9 pm, Channel 4

The world’s best pianist is hiding next to the toilets in Leeds Station. But Lang Lang and pop star Mika, his fellow judge, are quite happy to be there. They’re being treated to a breathtaking range of performances on the site’s public piano. The players think they’re giving Claudia Winkleman and lucky passers-by a display of their talent, little realising they’re secretly being selected for a concert at the Royal Festival Hall. In the running are: pub-trained Christopher, who plays Status Quo like he’s Little Richard; the show’s first duo, Angelica and Luca, redefining Abba; and 13-year-old Lucy, whose Chopin leaves the judging pair open-mouthed. For such a simple format, this talent showcase sure is powerful TV. ★★★★ NT

Sort Your Life Out With Stacey Solomon, 9 pm, BBC One

In this episode, Stacey, Dilly, Rob and Iwan are helping out Raaj and Roydel, who have merged two households. Stacey’s first impression is that each room is so full of a jumble of items it doesn’t seem to have a specific function. The reason for the sheer amount of stuff becomes clear when Raaj explains that after her sister died, she and Roydel packed up their own house and moved to look after their nieces and nephews in her sister’s smaller house. ‘Once we have a decluttered home, I think there’s going to be a new start for all of us,’ says Raaj, and you’ll be rooting for this grieving family who were clearly in need of help. ★★★★ JP

New York doctor Toby Fleishman (Jesse Eisenberg) has just emerged from an acrimonious divorce with wife Rachel (Claire Danes) and he’s finding life strange – his new apartment feels weird, he misses his kids, and, apparently, he’s now a total catch on dating apps. One weekend, Rachel drops the kids off a day early, in the middle of the night, which is unexpected and inconsiderate but hardly out of character. However, when Rachel fails to show up to collect them, Toby starts to worry – and looks back at his marriage with fresh eyes in this witty, introspective and superbly acted series adapted by Taffy Brodesser-Akner from her own best-selling debut novel. ★★★★ SP

Amazon – to some, it’s a genius one-stop shop for, well, everything; to others, it’s an indicator of everything that’s wrong with global companies. This week, the business series might confirm which side you are on, as it profiles multi-billionaire Jeff Bezos, founder of the online retail giant, who also has plans for the moon. The insightful documentary investigates the multinational’s practices and features interviews with friends who reveal unknown sides to the self-confessed nerd. ★★★ NT
