The Full Monty became a box-office smash with its story about a group of unemployed Sheffield steel workers who put on a striptease act. Now we get to see how life has been treating Gaz (Robert Carlyle), Dave (Mark Addy) and the gang in this eight-part series which begins with Gaz’s rebellious teenage daughter, Destiny (played brilliantly by rising star Talitha Wing), stumbling across a famous lost dog. Again written by Simon Beaufoy, it features the original cast including Lesley Sharp and Tom Wilkinson and is packed with the film’s trademark razor-sharp wit and warmth. Fans of the movie will love it and so will a whole new generation.

Staged season 3, 10.40 pm (times vary)/ iPlayer box set
David Tennant and Michael Sheen struck gold with the first two series of this sitcom, playing their alter-egos chatting on Zoom after being furloughed during lockdown. In this third series, first shown on Britbox, they navigate life post-lockdown. David’s again in ‘isolation’, holed up in a hotel room in Japan, due to cancelled flights (but Michael seems happy enjoying their friendship from a distance!). Meanwhile, having cut contact with director Simon (Simon Evans), the pair discover that, on Zoom, there’s no getting away from him… With two of our finest acting talents, we’re glad this show is back in the spotlight.

At any given moment on Earth, billions of animals are on the move and in this Our Planet sequel the mysteries of animal migration are brought into sharp focus. Thanks to spectacular cinematography the four-part series tells some of the most dramatic and compelling stories in the natural world, including the great wildebeest migration in Tanzania and Kenya which is the largest mammal migration on Earth. We also see polar bears, penguins, puffins and walruses as they follow the paths of their ancestors and make the journeys that are essential to their survival.

The Gallows Pole, 9 pm (times vary) / iPlayer (box set)
Shane Meadows warned Benjamin Myers that this screen adaptation would probably be ‘nothing like’ the author’s novel and so it has proved. The three-part period drama has outlined how David Hartley and the Cragg Vale Coiners’ illicit enterprise began, rather than their whole story, yet as the series comes to a close tonight it feels like a tale half told. Even so, there are still fine moments to enjoy, including a tense heist in which the gang rob the much-hated clothier – played by serial villain Ralph Ineson – while he’s at the village brothel.

Some of his favorite shows are What We Do In The Shadows, Bridgerton, Gangs of London, The Witcher, Doctor Who, and Ghosts. When he’s not watching TV or at the movies, Martin’s probably still in front of a screen playing the latest video games, reading, or watching the NFL.
