There's a shortage of police officers in Britain – in real terms as well in this new six part ITV comedy – but will Norbourne Police Training College be able to help plug the gap with new recruits Steph (played by Callie Cooke), Leggo (Sam Pote), Geeta (Sukh Kaur Ojla) Afia (Halema Hussain), Dev (Abdul Sessay) and Paul (Jamie Bisping)? That job falls to, among others, Sarah Parish as Superintendent Julie Spry and Mark Heap as Superintendent Bob Weekes.

While Piglets may have caused quite the stir among the police force, reviews have been mixed, however, at its best, the show echoes the earlier works of some of its stars, bringing to mind the chaotic and surrealist nature of Green Wing and Smack the Pony

Just add personality clashes, sexual tension, potential misconduct and generational conflict, give a good stir and sit down to watch Piglets online. Here's how to do that from anywhere...

What do the real police make of Piglets?

Short answer - not much.  Tiffany Lynch, who is the acting national chair of the Police Federation of England and Wales, claimed that the name of the show "is highly offensive to police officers risking their lives to protect the public every day providing an emergency service.

"It is a disgusting choice of language to use for the title of a TV programme," Ms Lynch continued on behalf of her 145,000+ rank and file officers. "I find it incredulous that this has passed through checks and balances at an organisation made up of people who at any time have or may need the support and assistance of the police."
