Welshman Andy Williams has become the latest casualty of The X Factor, after being voted out by the judges. The 22-year-old - the first of Dannii Minogue's acts to leave the show - landed in the bottom two along with Beverley, after his rendition of Snow Patrol's Chasing Cars failed to win public votes. Both acts were in the bottom two for the first time, in a result that left their respective mentors shocked. "It's not fair," Louis said of Beverley's inclusion in the bottom two. "I don't know why she's there but she should not be." Dannii described the situation as "nerve-wracking". Andy, meanwhile, was unable to hold back the tears as the judges cast their votes - with both Louis and Sharon voting to send him home and Dannii voting to send Beverley home - leaving Simon with the casting vote. Ignoring pleas from Louis to keep Beverley, he said both performers had had a "weak night," - but ultimately voted for Andy. Earlier on the show, Andy's performance had received a mixed reaction from the judges. Louis said there was "something missing" from his performance. "You're not a winner," he concluded, while Sharon said he was a "great singer, but too soft to be rock". However there was better news for other acts who were praised by the judges. Niki received raves for her rendition of the Kelly Clarkson hit Because Of You, while they were similarly enthusiastic about Rhydian. Fresh from his over-the-top performances of the previous weeks, the Welsh opera singer went back to basics to deliver a straightforward, no-frills performance of You Raise Me Up - which Simon described as "one of the best versions I've ever heard". Same Difference, meanwhile, offered the most unusual performance of the evening when they sang the Scissor Sisters chart-topper I Don't Feel Like Dancing, surrounded by dancers dressed as toy soldiers and ballerinas. Although their mentor Simon said it was "their best performance so far," others weren't quite so sure, with Sharon Osbourne describing the routine as "madness". Next Saturday's show will see the seven remaining acts tackling disco songs.
