Hospitals have always been a popular place to set a TV show, from heart-pounding dramas like ER to more comedic stays like Scrubs. Both of those shows aired (initially) on NBC, and now the network is heading back to the hospital with a brand-new show, a comedy titled St. Denis Medical.

In addition to being set in a hospital, St. Denis Medical is also going to bring back another popular format that NBC is well known for — the mockumentary. NBC's two most famous examples of the mockumentary series were The Office and Parks & Rec, both of which were adored by viewers. Can St. Denis Medical use the formula to become a hit itself?

Here is everything you need to know about St. Denis Medical.

St. Denic Medical release date

St. Denis Medical premieres on NBC on Tuesday, November 12. In fact, we're getting the first two episodes of the comedy on November 12, airing back-to-back at 8 pm ET/PT and 8:30 pm ET/PT.

In order to watch St. Denis Medical when it airs on NBC, you're going to need access to the broadcast channel, which is available either through a traditional pay-TV provider, a TV antenna or a live TV streaming service like Fubo, Hulu with Live TV, Sling TV and YouTube TV. You can also watch the show on Peacock, live if you opt for Peacock Premium Plus or on-demand the next day if you do just Peacock Premium.

St. Denis Medical cast

Set to headline the St. Denis Medical ensemble are Wendi McLendon-Covey, David Alan Grier and Allison Tolman.

McLendon-Covey is best known for her time on Reno 911!, The Goldbergs and Bridesmaids. Grier's resume highlights include In Living Color, Jumanji, Life with Bonnie, The Carmichael Show and, more recently, 2023's The Color Purple. Tolman is an Emmy-nominated actress (Fargo season 1) who has also starred in Good Girls, Why Women Kill and Gaslit.

The rest of the ensemble includes Josh Lawson (Superstore, Mortal Kombat), Kahyun Kim (Cocaine Bear, American Gods), Mekki Leeper (Jury Duty, The Sex Lives of College Girls) and Kaliko Kauahi (Superstore).

St. Denis Medical plot

Here is the plot for St. Denis Medial:

"A mockumentary about an underfunded, understaffed Oregon hospital where the dedicated doctors and nurses try to treat patients while maintaining their own sanity."

The new comedy is executive produced by Justin Spitzer who created recent NBC shows Superstore and American Auto, as well as having some mockumentary experience having worked on The Office. Also serving as an executive producer on the show is Eric Legin, who has previously written on American Auto, Superstore and The Pete Holmes Show.
